Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files saved by your browser. Together with similar technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage) we use them for basic site functionality, remembering your preferences and — with your consent — analytics and advertising.

2. Types of cookies we use

  • Essential — login session (Lovable Cloud / Supabase Auth, including the Google OAuth redirect), cookie consent, preferred interface language and country. No consent required.
  • Functional — remembering widget settings, approximate location (used only for the weather widget, derived from your IP address server-side — not stored in a cookie).
  • Analytics — anonymous traffic statistics (Lovable Analytics). They help us improve the service.
  • Marketingcurrently inactive. After approval from Google AdSense they will be used to personalize Google ads based on your consent (see section 3a below).

3a. Google AdSense (active after approval)

The section below describes how cookies will work after our Google AdSense account is approved. Until then, no advertising cookies are set on this site.

Once AdSense is active, Google and its partners (as third-party vendors) will use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this and other websites. These include:

  • NID, IDE, ANID (Google) — ad personalization, frequency capping, conversion measurement; up to 24 months.
  • __gads, __gpi (Google AdSense / Ad Manager) — identifying ad slots and measuring effectiveness; up to 13 months.
  • Other partner cookies set by third-party vendors participating in the Google ad ecosystem. The full vendor list is available at support.google.com/admanager/answer/9012903.

For EEA / UK / Swiss users we will use Google's IAB TCF v2.2-compliant consent flow (Funding Choices / CMP). Marketing cookies are set only after explicit opt-in; non-personalized ads may still be shown if you decline. You can withdraw consent at any time via the cookie banner or by visiting adssettings.google.com.

No ads in the For Kids / For Teens sections — these sections will remain ad-free even after AdSense approval, and no marketing cookies are set there.

3. Third-party cookies

  • Google — used only during Google OAuth login and (once activated) AdSense advertising. Details: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • Cloudflare — technical cookies related to image delivery from the CDN (R2) and bot protection.

4. Managing cookies

You can change or withdraw consent at any time by clearing browser data for https://auradailynews.com or by configuring your browser to block selected cookie categories. Disabling essential cookies may prevent account use.

5. Retention period

Session cookies expire when you close the browser. Persistent cookies (preferences, consent) are stored for up to 12 months or until you delete them.

6. More information
